Illness, Injury, and Wellness & Prevention
Flu & Cold
Flu and the common cold are respiratory illnesses that are caused by different viruses. It’s easy to get the two confused since they have similar symptoms. The flu is more severe than a common cold and the symptoms are more intense. Colds usually do not result in serious health problems like pneumonia, bacterial infections or hospitalizations. But the flu can. Symptoms of both viruses can be treated.
Ear and Sinus Infections
Ear and sinus infections are extremely common and there are more than 3 million cases per a year in the United States alone. Many times, a sinus infection is transmitted through airborne exposure and lasts for several days to a week. It is recommended to seek medical attention to ensure the infection leaves the body without permanent damage.
Allergies, rashes & Allergic Reactions
Allergies occur when a foreign substance causes a reaction from your immune system. Some of the most common allergies include pollen, bee venom and pet dander. Symptoms of allergies include scratchy throat and eyes, runny nose, sneezing. If your allergies are consistently bothering you, a medical provider can discuss a treatment plan to help eliminate and weaken symptoms.
Labs & Testing
At our centers we have the resources to conduct a variety of labs and tests. For those that we don’t do onsite, we have trustworthy partners that can help get you answers soon. The most common labs that we do are flu tests, pregnancy tests, strep test and glucose tests. If you have a specific test or lab you need done, please contact your closest center for more information.
Lacerations & Abrasions
Our skin is not only the biggest organ in the human body but is also the organ that is damaged most frequently. When you get hurt, not only is it painful, but also exposes you to infections. Our centers get you all fixed up quickly, and make sure that you are on the path to complete healing.
Sprains & Strains
Sprains occur when you tear or stretch a ligament (tissue that connects bones or holds together a joint). Sprains are most common in ankles, wrists, feet and knees. Sprains are more serious and involve a stretch or tear in a muscle or tendons. The most common types of strains are hamstrings and hip flexors.
Fractures & Dislocations
Fractures are usually caused by high force impact or stress during an accident, sports activity or work. This causes trauma in the bone and can lead to a break or crack. A dislocation is when a joint injury forces a bone out of position. Both can be serious and should be treated by a medical provider.
Bites & Stings
While most reactions to bites and stings are minor, there can be some that are more severe that need to receive immediate medical treatment. The symptoms that you have after a bite or sting is an indication of how your body is reacting to the insect’s venom. If you start having trouble breathing, please call 911 immediately.
Burns
Our centers can treat mild to moderate burns. Our team will evaluate the cause and then come up with the most effective treatment plan. Burs can range in severity and worsen over time, so to prevent infection, if you have any concerns about a burn (including a sunburn), it is worth the time to have a medical provider examine.
Flu Shots
The CDC recommends that anyone over the age of 6 months should get a flu shot. The flu shot is the best option for preventing the flu, a deadly virus that kills tens of thousands of people in the United States alone each year. Every flu season, our centers stock up on flu shots to make sure that you and your family have the best chance of fighting the flu.
